This waterproof, fleece lined jacket is fully reversible, suiting some children who like wearing a fleece but are not so keen on a waterproof. Wear it with fleece as the outer and it will still keep your child warm and dry.
It is ideal for the school run and other 'just in case of rain' situations, as well as keeping your child cosy warm on cold windy days. It is not recommended for sports such as skiing, snowboarding or mountain walking but is perfect for general use.
Outer: 280gsm polyester fleece fabric. Reverse: 200gsm 100% Polyester with PVC coating. Waterproof (1,600mm). Windproof. Double stitched taped seams (to withstand school wear & tear). What standard of waterproofing do I need?
All garments that state that they are waterproof have had to meet the British Standard to be able to declare this. This means that the fabric is to a recognised standard of waterproofing and all seams have been tape sealed to ensure that water cannot get through the seams.
There are then two main standards for waterproof garments - those that are breathable and those that are not. You really need a breathable jacket if you are going to wear it for regular, active use - anything from mountain walking through to walking to school, although the padded lining in some garments that are waterproof but not breathable will help to wick away sweat from the body. This has been reinforced by positive customer feedback on this type of garment.
Non-breathable garments without a padded lining are perfect as a stand-by waterproof for 'just in case' situations, such as on the beach or in the back garden or playground. There is one exception - the Togz cape, which is not breathable but circulates plenty of fresh air anyway because of its' design.
